Raising an Empowering Toast | Teneral Cellars

This post was sponsored by Teneral Cellars as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

I have always believed that wine is a great conversation starter. I have made some great friends over a flute of champagne, discussing the origin and evolution of sparkling wine. It was not until I attended a wine tasting ( a virtual one, obviously) by Teneral Cellar that the wine industry is predominantly male-dominated and how most wine companies maintain a “no comment” policy when it comes to raising voice about the issues that matter.

Teneral Cellars

What is Teneral Cellars?

Founded by Jill Osur, Teneral Cellars is a wine manufacturer that believes in empowering womxn. No, I didn’t make a spelling error. The ‘x’s in womxn represents all womxn, including trans-womxn, womxn of colour, and non-binary people.

A company with such a precise mission statement grabbed my attention. Right from the farms to your glass, every step has a mission to make this world a better place.

  • The grapes are grown in vineyards deploying sustainable practices like drip irrigation, conserving water, protecting air and water quality and preserving the local wildlife and habitat.
  • It believes in empowering womxn – right from the people who make the wine to the leadership positions – working towards a positive change is their motto. It is proud of creating opportunity and inclusion for womxn.
  • It gives back to the community too. Teneral Cellars supports organizations that create equality and equity for all women by donating 10% from every bottle sold.

If you are wondering what does Teneral mean? Here is your answer:

Sip With Purpose

RBG inspires the Sip with Purpose collection to help in delivering justice. Teneral cellars donate $10 from every 3 -pack sold to the National Women’s Law Centre – a fierce group of lawyers advocating gender justice.

Teneral Cellars

The 3-pack, did you ask? Let me dive deep into this limited edition collection before I talk about the wines; it’s important to note that every wine label is designed with a purpose and a message. Also, they are designed by local artists, giving them a platform to showcase their talent.

[Supreme] 2019 Sauvignon Blanc

Grapes

95% Sauvignon, Blanc 5% Semillon ~ 13.2% abv

Tasting Notes

Flavours of lemon curd, ginger, figs, yellow plum, and chamomile round out the mid-palate thatflows into a mouthwatering finish.

Teneral Cellars

My opinion

I am not a Sauvignon Blanc fan when it comes to white wines. But I like my Sauvignon Blanc more herby than this one. It’s my personal opinion. I love the ginger notes of this beautiful and light wine.

Label Design and Inspiration

Cory Justice designed the label; an architect turned designer based in Los Angeles, CA. The collar design was inspired by hearing how much pride and thought went
into RBG’s collars selection. Each of the collars held a special place in her heart, and she wore them to express her feelings about a decision or event subtly.

Best Pairing

Of course, the classic pairing with goat cheese is unbeatable. I love to pair this with garlic cream cheese! Also, you might want to pair it with oysters – it really goes well with this one!

[Notorious] 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon

Grapes

80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, 5% Petite Sirah ~ 13.5% abv

Tasting Notes

Aromas of Nougat, bittersweet dark cocoa nibs and wine-soaked wood give way to juicy
plum, cassis, black liquorice, roasted red bell pepper, bay leaf, and black pepper. This wine bursts with fruit and savoury avors that lead into round, generous tannins.

Label Design and Inspiration

Uptown Studios design it. The designers are highly inspired by RBG and, thus, this unique design!

My opinion

I love it. Period.

This has the perfect woody notes, which I love in my Cab Sauv.

Teneral Cellars

Best Pairing

The classic pairing is, of course, blue cheese. But I’m not too fond of blue cheese. If you are in the same boat as me, pairing this with grilled chicken or goat meat is highly recommended. Also, I enjoy my Cab Sauv with dark chocolate.

[Dissent] 2018 Zinfandel

Grapes

96% Zinfandel, 4% Petite Sirah ~ 13.5% abv

Tasting Notes

This powerful Zinfandel greets you with the smell of crushed blueberries and luxardo
cherries melded with nutmeg, dried violets, cinnamon and toasty pie crust. The juicy,
spicy avors lead into a long, satisfying finish with a hint of black pepper.

Label Design and Inspiration

Gigi Glazier designed the label. The colours in the background speak to RBG’s legacy as a warrior for the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans.

My opinion

This one is my favourite in the pack. The great American wine! The fruity notes of blueberries just won my heart. It smells great, and the sips are definitely worth a try!

Best Pairing

I am not a beef or pork eater. Zinfandel is said to go well with briskets and pork chops. But I enjoy this American wine with Italian food. A good alfredo pasta or a good four-cheese pizza is a great company to this Zinfandel.

Ending Notes: Why you should try Teneral Cellars atleast once!

  • Support the purpose – I cannot stress this enough.
  • 10% of every sale or $10 for every 3 -pack sold goes to a cause that supports women
  • Grape farming supports sustainability
  • A wonderful balance of different tastes
  • They make great gifts too!
