It only takes a spark to get the fire going.
And soon all those around can warm up in its glowing.
That’s how it is with God’s love,
Once you have experienced it
You want to sing
You feel like spring
You want to pass it on…
A few of us gathered together for Secret Santa tidings, divided by names and united through a common Christmas spirit of sharing. And it is in this spirit that we bring this blog chain to you.
I am thankful to Corinne for passing on the baton of spreading Christmas joy and spirit.
Christmas spirit is never about giving or receiving gifts. It’s more about spreading happiness and joy and bring hope. And that is what I have always believed in. We know who puts the gifts in our stockings every Christmas night. I stopped putting my socks long ago but I still receive my Christmas gift nicely tucked under my pillow. My dad (my forever Santa) doesn’t do it because he thinks that he is going to receive something in return. He does that simply because he loves the smile on my face and the sparkle in my eyes. This is that time of the year when we look forward to start afresh, start new irrespective of how the previous year has been. We always look for improvement and the festive happiness gives the right amount of hope we need for it.
I fail to understand why people want to taint this spirit by calling exchanging of gifts or the concept of secret Santa a balderdash. You don’t believe in Christmas, it is okay. You don’t believe in exchanging gifts, it is okay. But tell me that you don’t believe in being a reason for someone’s happiness somewhere, trust me it is not okay. You are failing in being a human being.
I don’t celebrate Christmas. Or I never exchanged gifts during these holidays. It was always about receiving a li’l gift from my dad. But this year, it was pretty different. I could sense the Christmas spirit so much. And when this Secret Santa thing came along, I was like why not. You never know the person you send a gift, to whom you are a complete stranger, might just need a lot of repairing in life and your gesture helps in restoring the faith he/she has been looking for.
We all do the other kind of charity – helping the ones who need food and shelter and education – but for ones try to bring a smile on someone’s face who might be as good and well off as you are but needs a dash of happiness in life, just like you do. Trust me, you will feel the best!
I too received some love. This secret Santa knows me too well – a stalker may be, which is creepy but my Ioved the way my gifts arrived. Wine and superheroes – my love till eternity. Well wine is not entirely but I can always replace the wine with something else, no one is watching 😛
Merry Christmas to you all! I hope the year of 2016 brings what all you desire.
I now invite Richa to spread the message of Christmas and new years on their blog.
